BYD's latest advances in solid-state batteries and 5C ultra-fast charging are bringing EVs into a new era.
With faster charging, longer driving range, and lower battery costs, electric vehicles are expected to become even more widespread over the coming years.
But as charging power continues to increase, another challenge is becoming impossible to ignore: power quality.
Ultra-fast charging stations place heavy, dynamic loads on the grid, which can lead to:
Harmonic distortion
Low power factor
Reactive power demand
Voltage fluctuations
Reduced transformer and equipment lifetime
Traditional capacitor banks were designed for relatively stable loads. In modern fast-charging applications with high-power power electronic converters, they are often no longer sufficient on their own.
That's why more charging infrastructure is adopting Active Harmonic Filters (AHF) and Static Var Generators (SVG) to:
Suppress harmonics in real time
Maintain a high power factor
Provide dynamic reactive power compensation
Improve grid stability and charging reliability
As EV technology evolves, charging infrastructure must evolve as well—not only delivering more power, but delivering better power.
